Review: I saw this film for the first time, cable, and, thankfully, it was the uncut version. I was very affected, but as bad luck would have it, I would not see it again two years.Mel Gibson has accomplished actor, with movies like Mad Max and Lethal Weapon under his belt. Ransom showed he was more than just a quirky actor's role, but it was Braveheart prove to everyone that he was a great actor ... and he director. What thought and caught on camera is one of the greatest achievements in film of all time, and a tough time, too. Looking back on the past year and you have to Oscar Schindler's List, Dances with Wolves and Unforgiven. Looking to the future, you Titanic, Shakespeare in Love, and Gladiator. These are all period pieces. Right smack dab in the middle of the Braveheart. It is the simplest of the above movies, but this is by far the best. No one will argue, the impact is greater than Schindler's List or a power greater than Unforgiven, but what it is, more than any other film, the heart. Much like his Passion of the Christ, Mel Gibson brings a passion for this film, and it's what keeps it.Mel Gibson plays William Wallace, a Scottish-educated farmer, who is determined to live a peaceful life. Well, if you've seen the poster for this film, you probably already know that he failed. When the law is on the space that says the English nobles have the first right to add the Scottish brides marrying Wallace secretly. However, when it is found, the local noble attempt to make Murron, Wallace's wife, she resists, as a result of relentless execution. With little choice, Wallace chooses revenge, and thus begins a journey Scotlands largest warrior. This is fantastic acted, directed, photographed, and a film with excellent performances, especially from the incredibly beautiful Sophie Marceau, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
